Data protection principles and technical measures for the use of artificial intelligence

Develop an understanding of the tension between artificial intelligence (AI) applications based on personal data, the basics of data protection and data protection-friendly technology design.

Objective

After the workshop, you will be able to incorporate the data protection perspective into your decisions when processing personal data in general and when using AI in particular. You will have learned about technical approaches to designing data protection-friendly solutions for selected issues.

Content of the workshop

In this workshop, you will receive information on the basic concepts and principles of data protection, your obligations when processing personal data, the legal basis for permission in the context of employees and the legal requirements for automated decisions. The legal considerations are supplemented by a look at technical solutions to support the data protection principles of purpose limitation, storage limitation, data minimization, transparency and the technical operationalization of data subjects' rights. Finally, in an outlook on current research topics, you will learn to what extent a personal reference can exist or be reconstructed in AI models.
Note: Legal advice will not be provided as part of the workshop.
